A Buyer’s Guide to Camping Lounge Chairs

Whether you need to settle in for a movie in the tent or a good spot to ponder the night sky, the right chair makes all the difference. A quality camp chair gets you off the ground and comfortable for long periods of time, and it typically weighs less than a camping hammock. We tested a range of options, from budget-friendly basic chairs to comfort-oriented thrones. Check out our buyer’s guide for tips on picking the best chair for your needs.

One of our favorite lounge chairs, the ENO Lounger DL, is a comfy and portable option for anyone who likes the feeling of hammock lounging without needing trees or trying to transport a clunky free-standing hammock. The Lounger has a tall back, pillowy headrest and slight recline for maximum relaxation. It also has storage pockets and a cup holder.

Another high-end lounge chair that stood out for its comfort is the Yeti Trailhead, a chair whose FlexGrid fabric relieves pressure points and conforms to your body. Its reclining mechanism is easy to use, but it doesn’t lock into place, making it more likely to shift while you relax.

Another affordable option that’s ideal for anyone who wants to upgrade from a supermarket camping chair is the Kelty Lowdown. It’s semi-reclined and features thoughtful touches like a double cup holder that holds larger water bottles. However, the initial set-up can be a bit tricky and testers noted that it’s a bit bulky when folded.
