There are a few ways to camp near Quartzsite in Arizona, from free camping on public lands to staying at RV parks and campgrounds. Free camping, also called dispersed camping or BLM (Bureau of Land Management) camping is one of the main draws that brings so many people to Quartzsite every year. BLM camping is typically limited to 14 days in any given area. You can find information on camping rules for specific areas by reading the signs or by contacting the on-site camp host.

While BLM camping is popular, it’s important to remember that you have a responsibility to leave no trace of your presence in the desert. The best way to do this is by leaving nothing behind when you depart your campsite, including removing all of your garbage. You can find a trash transfer station on Highway 95 north of Quartzsite that is free to use for household waste.

Quartzsite has a unique vibe to it, with a town made up of mostly travelers. There are a lot of events, rock hound shows and activities to keep you busy during your stay. But the best thing about Quartzsite is the vast amount of public lands that are available for exploration and hiking.

The Dome Rock BLM area is a large, open spot that is easy to access from Hwy 10. You can enter this site on either side of the road which parallels Hwy 10, and boondock anywhere off the pavement. It can be a little noisy here because there are so many rigs in the same area but it’s still a great place to spend the winter.
