Camping Packing List

If you’ve been planning a camping trip, you need to have the right gear to make sure your adventure is comfortable. This camping packing list includes the essentials, as well as some items to make your trip extra fun and memorable.

The exact items you need will vary depending on where you are going camping, your camping style, and amenities available at the campground. For example, if you are RV camping, you might not need to bring a tent or sleeping bag, but you will still need to bring creature comforts like a camp stove and cookware, plates, cups, and silverware, and a cooler for food and drinks. You will also need camping clothing for warmth (including layers), water, sun protection, and hiking gear (like sturdy shoes, a backpack and daypack, and a map).

It’s also worth packing basic tools, like a hammer, nails, screwdrivers, an Allen wrench, and duct tape to help you repair any issues that might pop up while out on the trail or at your campsite. Also, don’t forget your favorite hiking and camping activities — bring some games to keep you entertained, such as board games or card games, or a portable DVD player for relaxing and watching movies with your friends.

It’s important to follow the 7 Leave No Trace principles while camping, so be sure to pack trash bags, all-purpose cleaner, toilet bowl brushes, and a dustpan. Remember to avoid bringing invasive species, such as ticks and mosquitoes, to your campsite, and to only collect wood from the area where it is allowed (or purchased onsite at many parks). And of course, don’t forget a first aid kit!
